GET TO KNOW ME

I grew up in a charming little country - Latvia. However, despite this positive description, as a child I went through a number of adversities such as domestic violence, a crumbling economy, and drug use. Nevertheless, I knew from a young age that I wanted to help people change their lives for the better. Luckily, an opportunity to move to London presented itself and I enrolled at a university to study psychology (BSc Hons, MSc Global Mental Health). This unique opportunity allowed me to explore the cognitive, emotional, and interpersonal aspects of human behavioral processes from a professional perspective, as well as to draw parallels with my own life experiences.

I genuinely care about my clients and try to help them find the answers they are seeking. I have worked in a wide variety of settings, including psychiatric hospitals and prisons. Throughout my career, I have supported clients with many complex problems such as depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, abuse, stress, LGBTQ+ issues, among others. I have seen how vulnerable and isolated people can be and I learned what it takes to administer the care they need.

Research is my other passion. I explore the multifaceted aspects of childhood traumatic experiences (e.g., domestic abuse, sexual violence, disadvantaged neighborhoods and poverty) and their impact on people's mental health across different cultures. One of the main aims of such investigation is to reduce global inequalities in obtaining effective psychological support.
